The Philippines, dubbed as the world’s 2nd largest outsourcing workforce, is currently employing an estimated 500,000 Filipinos in businesses related to customer service, accountancy and other operational support jobs that are hosted from the US, Europe and Canada. One of the most promising categories in the outsourcing arena that has rapidly escalated in popularity is in Healthcare Information Management (HIM) Industry.
The Healthcare Information Management Outsourcing Association of the Philippines (HIMOAP) forecasts to double its HIM workforce for 2011 and will continue expanding over the next 5 years in equal proportions. With this forecast, HIMOAP will bring together companies, regulators and associations engaged in this industry in its most expansive annual international conference aimed at tackling diverse opportunities in the HIM industry.
After the success of last year’s conference, HIMOAP is presenting its second HIM Congress, dubbed as Healthcare Information Management Outsourcing Services Congress 2011 (HIMOSC 2011) on September 15, 2011 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Makati City.
This year’s theme, “Driving Sustainable and Dynamic Business Growth in the Philippines through Education and Innovation,” aims to expand the knowledge and understanding of its participants about the opportunities that this promising sector in the BPO industry can offer.
Says Myla Rose M. Reyes, President of HIMOAP, “The increased demand for electronic health records opens up huge career opportunities for the country’s nursing and allied medical professionals. HIMOAP envisions assisting the government in creating relevant and high-value jobs for this group.” Reyes adds, “HIM outsourcing industry offers converging opportunities for investment and job creation in healthcare revenue cycle management, insurance, pharmaceutical and other life sciences, and medical equipment. HIMOSC 2011 will be able to provide valuable information on these areas.”
HIMOSC 2011 will focus on topics such as the basics and foundations of the HIM Outsourcing Industry, the opportunities it presents and how companies can take advantage of this.
Formerly known as Medical Transcription Industry Association of the Philippines, Inc. (MTIAPI), HIMOAP is a non-stock, non-profit industry organization recognized by the Philippine government and BPO industry which brings together the most distinguished and active players in the Philippines healthcare outsourcing industry. It is HIMOAP’s goal to deliver the human resources in the Philippine healthcare industry as the offshore destination of choice by global companies requiring HIM documentation services.
